Facebook Instagram Whatsapp down worldwide - Click Inc

Millions of WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook users in India experienced problems while posting photos on social media platforms around 8:00 pm yesterday. The users faced difficulty in sending and downloading the pictures on WhatsApp. They couldn't even see the statuses also. Instagram users were unable to post pictures in their stories. Even on facebook users faced difficulty in posting links and pictures.

This created a lot of chaos amongst the users. The users went on complaining about servers being down on twitter with several hashtags like #instagramdown #facebookdown

After several complaints, Facebook acknowledged the issue and said “We're aware that some people are having trouble uploading or sending images, videos and other files on our apps. We're sorry for the trouble and are working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible."

Facebook again issued a statement around 5:36 PM (IST) apologising and stating that they have corrected the issue. They said “Earlier today, some people and businesses experienced trouble uploading or sending images, videos and other files on our apps and platforms. The issue has since been resolved and we should be back at 100% for everyone. We're sorry for any inconvenience."

Instagram also looked into the matter and apologised for the server being down and said that the things will be amended soon and the things will be back to normal as soon as possible.

Earlier in the year around the month of March, all the three platforms had faced the downtime and the problem had lasted for hours. Although at that time the issue wasn't complained about much because the servers went down in the morning hours when most of the Indian users were sleeping.

Facebook faced the longest disruption for almost about 24 hours and at that time it had said, "As a result of a server configuration change, many people had trouble accessing our apps and services... We've now resolved the issues and our systems are recovering. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s patience.”

Because of the servers being down, the small businesses in the digital grounds suffered as well. As they could not upload the pictures on any of the platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp), for a brief period of time till the servers were 100% fixed, the traffic on their websites were less.

The frequency with which these platforms are going down these days, the DDos attacks is the only possible explanation.
